Professional Bio

Rosalind’s experience as performer and pedagogue spans four-plus decades. She is a vocalist, collaborative pianist, retired music specialist, elementary school principal, and current vocal and piano instructor residing in Bathurst, New Brunswick.

A native of Newfoundland, she grew up with a rich, musical heritage, beginning her music studies and solo career at a very young age. Rosalind continued formal voice training at Memorial University of Newfoundland.  She holds a Bachelor of Physical Education and Recreation; Bachelor of Education (Music Education/Vocal Performance) and Masters of Education.

Rosalind’s newest passion is the study of voice science and evidence-based vocal pedagogy and practice. Her most recent milestone, achieved in 2025, was the culmination of five years of intensive vocal study, resulting in the successful completion of the ARCT in Vocal Performance with First Class Honours. As the highest academic designation awarded by the Royal Conservatory of Music, the ARCT (Associate of The Royal Conservatory) reflects her enduring commitment to artistic excellence, advanced musical development, and continuous learning.

An accomplished lyric soprano, Rosalind has performed in many genres and is known for her clear, resonant tone, impressive pitch accuracy, and expressive deliveries.  She has extensive choral conducting experience with a number of her choirs earning local and provincial recognition. Rosalind is equally as comfortable with the musical theatre genre having directed numerous productions over the years with her show choirs, school choirs and community choirs.  Some of these experiences include Into the Woods Broadway Jr, Annie Broadway Jr, Clowns, and many Living Nativities, to name a few.

Additionally, a significant number of Rosalind’s former private students have gone on to experience various career successes in the music-related fields of opera, jazz, musical theatre, music education, music media relations.  Since returning to private voice teaching in 2024, several of Rosalind’s students have achieved success at the local festival level and advanced to the New Brunswick Provincial Music Festival.

An experienced collaborative accompanist, Rosalind frequently uses her piano skills to assist other musicians and holds an RCM Teaching Piano Certificate with Distinction.  She is skilled in the area of communication and feedback, having presented numerous workshops, seminars and masterclasses over the span of her teaching career in both music and educational leadership - providing quality feedback to students and teachers alike. Her enthusiastic spirit, positive personality and humble countenance make those who work with her feel instantly comfortable and valued.

 Rosalind currently serves as the President of the Chaleur Music Festival, First Vice President of the NBFMF (NB Federation of Music Festivals) and a committee member on the FCMF National Music Festival Task Force.  She is also a member of NBRMTA (NB Registered Music Teacher’s Association), CFMTA (Canadian Federation of Music Teacher’s Association), NATS (National Association of Teaching of Singing) and CAPS-NATS (Canadian Atlantic Provinces Chapter – NATS).

When time permits beyond her many volunteer commitments and the demands of her private music studio, Rosalind enjoys long walks along the beach listening to voice-related podcasts and documentaries. Driven by an enduring passion for learning, Rosalind is always seeking new opportunities to expand her knowledge and understanding. Her greatest joy, however, comes from spending time with her family, especially her three cherished grandchildren and her new pup, Barney.
